Action on Climate Emergency Settle and Area

ACE Settle & Area was set up by local people in 2019 covering Settle and the surrounding villages. ACE is a coordinating body of people with local knowledge and relevant environmental expertise who recognise the seriousness of the Climate Emergency.

ACE works in partnership with the local authority and all other local and statutory authorities, voluntary organisations, charities and persons who share the vision and requirement to make a just transition to a sustainable net zero carbon community. We have 75 members and with supporters have 175 people on our mailing list and 200+ people in our active Facebook group.

We have five themed groups covering: biodiversity, energy, food, transport and our comms and a monthly Green Cafe (usually the second Saturday of each month at St John's Methodist Church. Settle). At our Green Cafes we have speakers, discuss forthcoming actions and campaigns and how to get involved in them.

Our themed groups are involved in tree planting and maintenance and sessions with the River Ribble Trust. Our food group helped to set-up Settle Fairtrade Community and actively campaigns for a plastic free Settle. Our energy group is developing Settle Local Energy Club for local generators and consumers to benefit from competitive prices and local, renewable energy. Our transport group campaigns for better and accessible public transport.
